Happy New Year fellow geeks!
We hope you had amazing Christmas and New Year. We also hope Santa and his elves brought you everything you asked for. As you probably know, we took a full week off to relax and recharge ready for the New Year, completely stuffed with turkey, chocolates and cheese.
We are fully back to our normal routine now that the festive madness has settled down and the Christmas blues are fully in swing (boo!), so we thought we'd reflect back on our last year at Geek HQ!
What a year 2019 was! In January we expanded our Harry Potter shop, doubling it in size. We hosted our second Harry Potter shop anniversary party which was a HUGE success. It was our best ever trading day since opening back in 2016. We even had people travel all the way from West Sussex to visit our little shop! How amazing is that?
We also won The Yorkshire Press 'Local Legend Award' for best independent shop. What an absolute honour to be voted by both locals and visiting customers from afar when we are located amongst so many amazing independent shops in Skipton!
We have managed to grow our current ranges as well as expand and secure new merch, including The Potions Cauldron based in York. They heard about us and approached us and asked if we would be the Skipton stockist for their epic wizardy drinks range. Of course we said "yes!"
We have also grown our collecables range, including expanding our wand range by six times the size! We now also have a selection of Fantastic Beasts wands too which we hope to grow even more.
Our proudest achievement has been securing the highly anticipated Limited Edition Nimbus 2000 broomsticks. Only 10,000 were made worldwide and we managed to grab a few for little old Skipton! Even some lucky so-and-so got one for Christmas too.
Some other new ranges we have managed to offer are Rick and Morty, Stranger Things, Beano, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Doctor Who, The Lion King, Aladdin, Dumbo, Toy Story, Frozen, Disney Villain. We also expanded our popular Friends range after the 25th anniversary of the show.
There's so much to celebrate from 2019, but we'd be here all day! So we'll leave it there for now. But before we go, please also note our new opening times.
