We hope everyone who came in Skipton for Pride In The Park yesterday had a fabulous time - it certainly looked it! There were colourful rainbows everywhere. It was beautiful.

Today is Independents' Day UK. A campaign that independent retailers across all sectors and throughout the country can shout about and promote their own businesses online and in their own communities. Independent shops are what make your towns unique and individual, that you won't find anywhere else - and that is definitely something to celebrate!
Independent retailers offer choice, diversity of product and service, tradition as well as innovation, and a more personal service to customers. They are also job creators and contributors to local and national economies. And with retail spending under pressure, never have they needed our support more.
It’s no secret that shoppers want diversity in their High Streets and independent retailers that give their towns a distinct character and service. So buying those new clothes, meeting your DIY requirements, shopping for a piece of kitchenware, getting a gift and a card for someone special, treating your pet or just having a coffee and something to eat with an independent outlet makes the world of difference.
As a shopper Independents' Day UK is your chance to show some love for the independent retailers you value most both in your local communities and online: the ones you wouldn’t want to live without. Here’s how you can get involved to help make Independents’ Day UK a success for those businesses and others. In addition:
• Follow and engage with the campaign across our social media platforms. • Share the campaign with your family and friends. • Give a shout-out on social media to the independent retailers you love and value most – be sure to tag us in any post using the hashtag #ukindieday. • Ask the independent retailers you visit or know if they are involved with Independents’ Day UK – if not, please direct them to our website. • Make a list now of one or two independent retailers that you’ve never visited before, or even local favourites you’re familiar with and pledge to visit them on Independents’ Day on July 4th – your visit will make the world of difference.
