Skipton Pride In The Park

Hello fellow geeks!

What did you all think of yesterday's Stranger Things Part 2? What did you think? We had a retro 80's buffet tea planned (cocktail sausages and cheese on sticks, the works), but sadly something came up and we had to cancel, so we will be watching tonight instead - no spoilers, please!

On another (and much happier) note today is Skipton's first ever Pride event! Being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, this is amazing to see Skipton finally embracing Pride month and we absolutely can't wait to see this event come together this weekend and in the future.

Pride In The Park will be hosted at the local Aireville Park and will host a number of acts including Baga Chipz, Abba Re-Bjorn, Manchester Proud Chorus and Smashby. There will also be a fun fair for the kids and the Yorkshire Bus Bar as well as plenty of food stalls too!

If you're nervous about going to the Pride event on your own, that's ok - Skipton Town Hall are hosting a ‘Get Ready for Pride’ drop-in event on Saturday 2nd July. Join them any time between 9.30am and 12noon to hang out, chat, make new friends and get dressed up (if you want to) for Pride in the Park.

They will provide (eco-friendly) glitter and face paints for those who would like to use them. Feel free to bring your own makeup and accessories too! You can then walk down to Pride In The Park together in groups when you are ready.

Skipton Town Hall are also hosting the official Skipton Pride Afterparty too after Pride In The Park!

International Award Wining Cabaret Drag sensation, Velma Celli and her four piece band, will provide an evening of fabulous entertainment featuring the legendary music of Queen, Bowie, Boy George, RuPaul, Lady Gaga, Tina Turner and more!

Velma Celli is the alter-ego of West End performer Ian Stroughair and Impressionist who has recently appeared on Eastenders and in Lucy Rose’s music video, Nebraska, opposite Danny Dyer. Ian has performed in hit shows such as Cats, Fame, Chicago and Rent, where he received critical acclaim for his portrayal as Angel.

PRIDE AFTERPARTY: Velma Celli's A Brief History of Drag Sat 2nd July | 8pm | £12.50 | Bar open all night

Buy your tickets here.

So let's bring on the RAINBOWs and wave those flags with pride!

Until next time...

Much love,

Team Geek
